Included Markers

5 markers
Triglycerides LDL Cholesterol Vitamin D (25-OH) HDL Cholesterol Complete Blood Count (CBC)

A focused health panel covering blood count, lipids, and Vitamin D. This panel provides a snapshot of commonly checked markers without the breadth of a full checkup.

Why this test?

Not every health check requires an extensive panel. This test focuses on a core set of markers that are frequently measured: blood count for general blood health, lipids for cholesterol balance, and Vitamin D, which many people in the Netherlands may have at suboptimal levels, particularly during the darker months.

Who is this test for?

This test may be relevant for women who:

  • Want a basic health check without an extensive panel
  • Are curious about their cholesterol and Vitamin D levels
  • Want to monitor general blood health markers
  • Prefer a simpler, more focused test

What is tested?

This panel covers six marker groups:

  • Complete Blood Count (CBC): red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets
  • HDL Cholesterol: often referred to as "good" cholesterol
  • LDL Cholesterol: often referred to as "bad" cholesterol
  • Triglycerides: a type of fat in the blood
  • Vitamin D (25-OH): involved in bone health, immune function, and mood regulation

What can this test tell you?

The CBC provides a general picture of blood health and can flag conditions such as anemia or signs of infection. The lipid markers together reflect cholesterol balance, which may be relevant for cardiovascular health. Vitamin D levels are frequently low in the Netherlands due to limited sun exposure, and low levels may be associated with fatigue, mood changes, and reduced immune function.

How is the sample collected?

The test requires a blood draw at a certified sample point (afnamepunt). There are over 750 locations across the Netherlands. Since fasting is required for lipids, scheduling a morning appointment is recommended.

When is this test useful?

This test may be considered when:

  • You want a quick health check on commonly measured markers
  • You are curious about your cholesterol balance
  • You want to check your Vitamin D level, particularly during autumn or winter
  • You want a simpler alternative to a full health panel

What do the results mean?

Each marker is shown with your value and the reference range. Lipid results are typically interpreted together rather than individually. Low Vitamin D may be common in the Netherlands but can still be worth addressing. Results are intended to be discussed with a healthcare provider for proper interpretation.

Preparation

Fasting is required for 8 to 12 hours before the blood draw (water is permitted) for accurate lipid results.

What happens after the results?

Your results are typically available within a few working days. Each marker is shown with your value, the reference range, and an explanation. These results can be discussed with your healthcare provider to determine if any follow-up is appropriate.

What We Test

This test includes 5 biomarkers to give you a comprehensive health picture.

Triglycerides are the most common type of fat in the body, used for energy storage. Elevated levels may be associated with increased risk of cardiovascular disease, especially when combined with other lipid abnormalities.

LDL cholesterol, often referred to as "bad" cholesterol, is the fraction that can deposit in the walls of your blood vessels. Over time, this leads to atherosclerosis and increases the risk of heart attack or stroke. The desirable LDL level depends on your total cardiovascular risk profile — stricter targets apply for people with diabetes or a history of heart disease than for healthy individuals.

Learn more

Vitamin D is a fat-soluble vitamin that plays a key role in calcium absorption, bone health, and immune function. It is primarily produced in the skin through sunlight exposure and can also be obtained from certain foods and supplements.

Learn more

HDL cholesterol is called "good" cholesterol because it transports cholesterol from blood vessel walls back to the liver, where it is broken down. Higher HDL therefore has a protective effect against atherosclerosis and cardiovascular disease. Unlike LDL, where a lower value is better, with HDL you want a higher value.

A complete blood count (CBC) is a comprehensive blood test that evaluates the major components of your blood: red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets. It is one of the most commonly ordered blood tests and provides a broad overview of your overall health.
