Included Markers

3 markers
LH (Luteinizing Hormone) FSH (Follicle Stimulating Hormone) Estradiol (E2)

A focused menopause panel measuring FSH, LH, and Estradiol. These three reproductive hormones may provide insight into whether the body is transitioning toward menopause.

Why this test?

As the ovaries gradually produce less estrogen, the pituitary gland responds by increasing FSH and LH output. This hormonal shift is a hallmark of the menopausal transition. Measuring these three hormones together can provide data about where you may be in this process.

Who is this test for?

This test may be relevant for women who:

  • Are experiencing symptoms that may be associated with perimenopause or menopause
  • Have noticed changes in their menstrual cycle
  • Want a focused hormonal assessment without a broader thyroid or metabolic panel
  • Want data to discuss menopausal status with their healthcare provider

What is tested?

This panel measures three hormones:

  • FSH (Follicle Stimulating Hormone): typically rises as ovarian function declines
  • LH (Luteinizing Hormone): also tends to rise during the menopausal transition
  • Estradiol (E2): the primary estrogen; declining levels are associated with menopause

What can this test tell you?

Elevated FSH and LH alongside low estradiol may suggest the body is in a menopausal or perimenopausal state. During perimenopause, these values can fluctuate significantly from one cycle to the next, so a single test provides a snapshot rather than a definitive answer. The results can help inform a conversation with your healthcare provider about what may be happening hormonally.

How is the sample collected?

The test requires a blood draw at a certified sample point (afnamepunt). There are over 750 locations across the Netherlands. After placing your order, you can select a convenient location and schedule your visit.

When is this test useful?

This test may be considered when:

  • You experience symptoms such as hot flashes, night sweats, or irregular periods
  • You want to check whether your hormones are consistent with menopausal transition
  • You prefer a focused reproductive hormone test without thyroid markers
  • You want data to bring to a healthcare provider appointment

What do the results mean?

Each hormone is shown with your value and the reference range. Elevated FSH with low estradiol is a pattern commonly associated with menopause. However, during perimenopause, values can vary widely. A single measurement is a snapshot and should be interpreted by a healthcare provider in the context of your symptoms and cycle history.

Preparation

If you are still menstruating, it is recommended to have your blood drawn on cycle day 2 to 5. If your periods have stopped, the test can be done on any day. No fasting is required.

What happens after the results?

Your results are typically available within a few working days. Each hormone is shown with your value, the reference range, and an explanation. These results can be discussed with your healthcare provider to help understand your menopausal status and determine next steps.

What We Test

This test includes 3 biomarkers to give you a comprehensive health picture.

An LH blood test measures luteinizing hormone, a pituitary hormone essential for reproductive function. LH plays a key role in triggering ovulation in women and stimulating testosterone production in men.

Learn more

Follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) is produced by the pituitary gland and plays an essential role in reproductive function. It regulates egg development in women and sperm production in men. Abnormal levels may indicate changes in fertility or hormonal health.

Learn more

Estradiol (E2) is the most potent form of estrogen, playing a key role in reproductive health, bone density, and cardiovascular function. Abnormal levels may indicate hormonal imbalances that your healthcare provider can help evaluate.
