HBsAg Test

Note that HBsAg only becomes detectable 1 to 12 weeks after exposure, so a negative result shortly after a possible exposure does not rule out infection. Dutch laboratories therefore never test HBsAg alone, but always alongside anti-HBc (RIVM, NHG).
