An IVF pathway brings a lot of emotion, and plenty of practical steps too. Before treatment starts, various blood values are often mapped out, and this complete IVF blood test lets you arrange those measurements in one go, calmly and at your own pace.
This broad panel for women looks at your hormones and ovarian reserve, your thyroid, a number of nutrients around family planning, your blood type, your blood count and the infection serology that is often requested before a fertility treatment. That way you have your values neatly at hand for the conversation with your doctor or clinic.
Why this test?
Around an IVF pathway, a lot of appointments and tests can arrive in a short space of time. This panel can help you map out many of the usual blood values in advance, so you walk into the conversation with your clinic carrying concrete information.
It combines hormones, thyroid markers, a number of nutrients and infection serology. Together, these values may give you more insight into your starting point, without waiting for a referral.
Who is this test for?
This test is designed for women who are considering or preparing for IVF or another fertility treatment. It can serve as part of your intake, or as an addition to what your clinic has already done.
Even if you simply like to be well prepared and want your values in a row, this panel can be reassuring. If you are unsure whether it fits your situation, your GP or treating doctor can think along with you.
What is tested?
This panel maps out a broad set of blood values that are often relevant around an IVF pathway. It measures:
- AMH (Anti-Müllerian Hormone): can give an impression of your egg supply.
- FSH (Follicle Stimulating Hormone): plays a role in the maturation of your follicles.
- LH (Luteinizing Hormone): involved in your ovulation.
- Estradiol (E2): one of your most important oestrogens.
- Progesterone: a hormone that rises after ovulation.
- Prolactin: can influence your cycle when it is elevated.
- TSH (Thyroid Stimulating Hormone): signals your thyroid.
- Free T4 (Thyroxine): an active thyroid hormone.
- TPO Antibodies: an antibody that can point to an autoimmune thyroid process.
- Ferritin: reflects your iron stores.
- Folate (Folic Acid): a B vitamin often followed around family planning.
- Vitamin B12: involved in blood formation and the nervous system.
- Vitamin D (25-OH): shows how much vitamin D your body has available.
- Complete Blood Count (CBC): an overview of your red and white blood cells and platelets.
- Blood Type + Rh: determines your blood group and rhesus factor.
- D-Dimer: a value that relates to blood clotting.
- HIV I+II: screening for HIV antibodies and antigen.
- HBsAg: can point to a hepatitis B infection.
- Anti-HBc: an antibody that says something about contact with hepatitis B.
- Anti-HCV: screening for hepatitis C antibodies.
- Syphilis Screening: screening for syphilis.
- Chlamydia IgG: antibodies that can point to earlier contact with chlamydia.
- Rubella IgG: gives an impression of your immunity to rubella.
- Toxoplasmosis IgG: says something about earlier contact with toxoplasmosis.
- Varicella Zoster: gives an impression of your immunity to chickenpox.
- CMV IgG: says something about earlier contact with the cytomegalovirus.
What can this test tell you?
The results can give you insight on several fronts. The hormone values and AMH may say something about your ovarian reserve and your cycle. The thyroid markers give an impression of how your thyroid is functioning, something often included around family planning.
The nutrients such as ferritin, folate, vitamin B12 and vitamin D show how a number of reserves are doing. The infection serology and your blood type belong to the information clinics usually want to know before treatment continues.
How is the sample collected?
This test requires a blood draw at a certified lab. In the Netherlands you can choose from 650+ sample points, so there is almost always a location near you.
After ordering, you pick a location and a moment that suits you. The draw itself usually takes only a few minutes, and you do not need a referral from your GP.
When is this test useful?
This panel can be valuable at different moments, for example:
- when you are preparing for IVF or another fertility treatment
- when you want to view your hormones, thyroid and nutrients at the same time
- when your clinic has asked for infection serology and your blood type
- when you want your values neatly at hand for a consultation
Some hormone values relate to your cycle. For those measurements a particular cycle day can be relevant; you can read more about this under preparation.
What do the results mean?
You receive an overview of all your values, each with a reference range and a short explanation. What counts as usual varies by laboratory and sometimes by situation, such as your age or cycle phase.
A value outside the range does not necessarily mean much on its own. With the infection serology, for instance, the question is often whether antibodies are present. The BIG-registered doctor helps you place your results in the right context.
What happens after the results?
Your result is usually available online within a few working days. Each value is shown clearly with a reference range and an explanation, so you understand what you see and can easily share it with your clinic.
Every blood test result includes a professional assessment from a BIG-registered doctor. For treatment decisions, discuss your results with your GP.
Did your clinic send its own list?
Upload it on scan your test list and you will see, line by line, what we can run. This panel was assembled for a common intake and need not match what your clinic asks for.
Frequently Asked Questions
No. This panel can help you map out many common values in advance, but clinics sometimes have their own requirements. Check with your clinic which measurements they specifically need.
No, you can order this test online without a referral. After ordering, you choose your own sample point and a moment that suits you.
FSH, LH and estradiol are often measured early in the cycle. AMH can be measured on any day. Align the best timing with your clinic if needed.
Clinics usually want to know your infection serology and immunity to certain infections before treatment begins, so these values belong to an intake panel.

Chorowałeś? Poczekaj chwilę
WymaganeMiałeś w ciągu ostatnich 2 tygodni gorączkę, infekcję lub szczepienie? Poczekaj z pobraniem, aż całkiem wyzdrowiejesz. Te wartości reagują na stan zapalny i dałyby zafałszowany obraz.
-
Zachowaj okres okienka
WymaganeTo badanie jest wiarygodne dopiero od 4 tygodni po ryzykownym kontakcie. Pełną pewność daje dopiero drugi test po 90 dniach. Jeśli masz objawy, zbadaj się od razu.
-
Odstaw na czas biotynę
WymaganeBierzesz suplement z biotyną (witamina B8, częsta w suplementach na włosy, skórę i paznokcie)? Odstaw go 72 godzin przed pobraniem. Biotyna zaburza pomiar tych wartości.
-
-
Przyjdź wcześniej i najpierw spokojnie posiedź
WymaganeTa wartość rośnie pod wpływem stresu i wysiłku. Przyjdź 30 minut wcześniej i posiedź spokojnie, zanim pobiorą ci krew.
-
Masz cykl?
-
Masz cykl? Wybierz właściwy dzień
WymaganeJeśli miewasz miesiączkę, oddaj krew 7 dni przed spodziewaną kolejną miesiączką; jeśli cykl jest nieregularny, powtarzaj co tydzień, aż zacznie się miesiączka. Bez cyklu każdy dzień jest odpowiedni.
- Wodę możesz pić zawsze. Pij normalnie przed pobraniem, ułatwia to badanie.
- Przyjmuj swoje leki jak zwykle, chyba że twój lekarz zalecił inaczej.
